  • Job Summary

    Friendship Village is seeking an Accounting Manager to join our team. This exempt position includes our benefits package outlined below.

    Schedule: Monday-Friday

    Pay Range: $70,000 to $86,000 per year


    • Responsible for the oversight of Retirement Plan including: updating new/termed employees, enrollment, year-end compliance and audit as required by ERISA law.
    • Oversee payroll duties including: the employee data entered by HR is accurate and monthly calculations of taxes are complete.
    • Directs or performs the preparation of accurate bi-weekly payroll taxes and reporting including quarterly tax reports and third party sick tax calculations.
    • Oversee the submittal of responses to garnishment authorities;
    • Directs or performs the reconciliation of monthly bank statements and Blackline reconciliations.
    • Responsible to the oversight of AP monthly fixed asset and capital asset transfer to the general ledger.
    • Responsible for the monthly TPT tax reporting of sales revenue.
    • Directly supervises the Accounts Payable Specialist, Accounting Assistant, Purchasing and Receiving employees.
    • Works closely with resident committee members; initiates internal billing; oversight of the Memorial Fund.
    • Gathers information and assists Director of Finance with year-end duties including: audit, cost reporting, and compliance

    Education & Experience

    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
    • Knowledge in Accounts Payable and Payroll procedures.
    • Proficient in Oracle, Microsoft office software (including Excel, Word, and Outlook).
    • Knowledge of General Ledger functions including account reconciliations and fixed assets.
    • Prior supervisory experience required, 3-5 years preferred.
    • Payroll tax and garnishment experience.
    • Experience in third party disability payroll tax calculations.
    • Must possess the ability to learn/understand accounting fundamentals as assigned and apply accurately to work assignments.
    • Proficient at 10-key.

    Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

    • Able to stoop, bend and reach in order to access files and lift/carry approximately 25 pounds.
    • Able to sit for long periods of time, approximately 90% of the shift.
    • Able to move throughout the building and grounds as needed throughout the day.
    • Good manual dexterity and ability for frequent computer input and typing.
    • Exhibit qualities of patience, concern for the needs of the elderly, and a positive attitude toward interactions with residents and employees of Friendship Village Tempe.
